GoldenPeaks Capital, a company specializing in the construction and operation of solar systems and investing into renewable energy sources across Europe, has entered into a 12-year Virtual Power Purchase Agreement (VPPA) with Mondelēz International to offset the electricity-related carbon footprint of the company ́s plants in Poland.

Under the Virtual Power Purchase Agreement, GoldenPeaks will supply approximately 126 gigawatt hours of carbon free, renewable electricity on a yearly basis, produced by various facilities in Poland with an expected peak capacity of 109 megawatts.

Mondelēz International, a global snacking leader, aims to reach a 2050 goal of net zero greenhouse gas emissions across their full value chain. The Virtual Power Purchase Agreement with GoldenPeaks Capital contributes to this long-term goal. This agreement aims to save more than a 1 million metric ton equivalent of CO2 during its agreed tenor. It will approximately offset the electricity-related carbon footprint of Mondelēz International plants in Poland. The energy production is planned to start in January 2023.

For GoldenPeaks Capital, this is the fourth VPPA in Poland. With close to 500 GWh of solar PPAs contracted in 2022 and more than double volume planned in 2023, GoldenPeaks Capital is one of the market’s leaders and a reliable partner to corporates in their decarbonization mission.

Adriano Agosti, Founder and President of GoldenPeaks Capital says “We are proud to have signed a Virtual Power Purchase Agreement with Mondelez International, one of the largest snack companies in the world, helping them to enhance their share of renewable energy across their owned manufacturing operations and contributing to their long-term ambition of net zero greenhouse gas emissions.”

GoldenPeaks is a global investment group dedicated to creating value and delivering growth through international affiliates, including those in renewable energy generation and trading. It is a company specializing in the construction and operation of solar systems and one of the largest photovoltaic system owners in Poland and Hungary. The group will further increase the pace of shaping the industry of renewable energies by applying the seamless integration of all sectors of GPC, ensuring an invaluable alignment of methodologies, ethics and goals.
